LEADING GIRLS TO BECOME SUCCESSFUL WOMEN
About Us
Awesome Ambitions was established in 1997 to educate, inspire, and empower 8th to 12th-grade girls in the greater Kansas City metropolitan area. All girls are welcome, but our programming is tailored to meet black and brown girls' social, emotional, and cultural needs. The organization was founded by award-winning journalist Cynthia Newsome of KSHB-TV and co-founded by Angela Curry, a former Kansas City Star columnist. Both women were passionate about giving back to their community and preparing the next generation of women leaders.

Throughout the years, Awesome Ambitions has served thousands of Kansas City girls who participated in the program and have gone on to become successful women serving their families and communities.

Our Awesome Ambitions volunteers connect with the girls and provide positive examples of achieving success despite overcoming obstacles or challenges. Our volunteers are committed to helping our girls set and achieve their goals.

With our sponsors' help, we can continue our amazing events for our girls, bringing young women together while educating and empowering them in their futures. Our events, such as our AA KCPS, work closely with 8th-12th graders to help them grow with our support and resources.

Awesome Ambitions has earned a positive, wholesome reputation and is supported by numerous organizations and businesses in the community.
Our Mission
Awesome Ambitions empowers, educates, and equips black and brown young ladies in 8th through 12th-grade in underserved communities to know their value and develop a plan for future success in wellness, education, and careers.
Awesome
Intentionally
We utilize four pillars of well-being and awesomeness to support our girls to become the best they can be. Every event, sponsor, worker, and volunteer brings these pillars to life, ensuring what we produce for the girls of this community is setting them up for success.
